1. "Brown Out" stain removal chemical is an effective way to remove water
stains from carpet that was flooded.
2. Laminated carpet is made using a wet process, and will de-laminate when
exposed to water.
3. Upholstery buttons are made of steel, and will cause rust stains on fabric if
they get wet.
4. Water will wick up into wooden furniture legs from wet floors or carpet, and
the legs will often split. Set furniture up on blocks of wood or plastic.
5. Insulation inside a wall will wick moisture up into the wall from a wet
floor. A mere 1/2 inch (1 cm) of water on the floor can wick 2 ft. (60 cm) up
the backside of the wall.
6. Cellulose insulation (made from newspaper) will compact if it gets wet, which
causes it to lose much of its insulating ability.
